Dr. Abdalla Babiker Abdalla Diyab completed his MBBS from the University of Kordofan, Sudan in 2009. In 2018, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians – Ireland.  In 2020, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians – Glasgow, UK.  In the same year, he received a European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine from the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine.  In 2021, he received a Diploma in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) from the Institute of Cardiology at La Pitie Hospital – Paris, France.  Furthermore, he completed his Diploma in Professional Career Skills from International Business Management Institute – Berlin, Germany.  Currently, he is taking his MSc in Critical Care at the University of Edinburgh.

Dr. Abdalla started his medical practice as a General Practitioner at the Ministry of Health – North Kordofan in 2011.  In 2013, he moved to Saudi Arabia and became a Resident Doctor in Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at King Khalid Hospital – Hail, Saudi Arabia.  In 2016, he moved to the UAE and continued his practice as a Resident Doctor in ICU and Critical Care Unit in a private tertiary hospital in Sharjah.  In 2018, he was posted as a hospital doctor in ICU at a well-known medical facility in Sharjah.  In 2020, he was posted as an Internal Medicine Specialist in Intensive Care Unit at a huge private hospital in Dubai.

Dr. Abdalla’s areas of expertise include managing long-term care patients: those who require ventilator support and weaning, and those who need prolonged mechanical ventilation using personalized ventilator weaning protocols.  In addition, he manages rehabilitation of patients following acute care: designs and manages post-acute rehabilitation programs that address specific needs with programs that focus on improving physical function, enhancing quality of life, and promoting independence.  He collaborates closely with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans, to ensure that each patient receives holistic and effective care throughout the recovery journey.  In critical care, Dr. Abdalla manages patients on ECMO: responds rapidly to critical situations, performs intubations, central line placements, and PICC placements.  He operates various types of mechanical ventilators and conducts invasive hemodynamic monitoring.  He handles renal replacement therapy (Hemodialysis and CRRT); trauma cases; pre- and post-operative care; FAST assessments; echocardiography; percutaneous tracheostomies; bronchoscopy; and conscious sedation techniques.

Dr. Abdalla is a member of European Society of Cardiology, Saudi Critical Care Society, European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care, and American Society of Critical Care Medicine.  He is also a member of the American Neocritical Care Society and Trainer for Emergency Neurological Life Support course (NCS-ENLS Trainer) since 2022.

To his credit, he has published numerous researches in his field.  Currently, he is an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer in Critical Care Medicine at the Mohamed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Science (MBRU), where he contributes to the academic community and to the development of future medical professionals.

Dr. Abdalla ensures delivery of high-quality care to patients with chronic illnesses or disabilities.  He fosters collaborative work environment, supports and trains medical staff, and implements quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.  His journey at Salma is marked by distinctions, including a nomination for SEHA Best 100 Employees and contributions to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation.
